My Name My Identity Resolution
Updated: May 7, 2021
Did you know that by pronouncing a student's name correctly, you help to foster a sense of belonging for that child and also encourage a positive relationship with that student?
Taking the time to understand the names of your students, the story behind it, and also the correct pronunciation, helps their social, psychological and educational outcome. The FUDTA Equity and Human Rights Committee brought forth a resolution to FUDTA. At the April Rep Council meeting, the "My Name My Identity" resolution was approved. FUDTA will officially endorse and promote this campaign.
Teachers are encouraged to join the campaign and make a pledge by going to www.mynamemyidentity.org and using the code: FUDTA. Or you can use this direct link: https://www.mynamemyidentity.org/campaign/pledge?FUDTA
By using the link or our campaign code, it helps us keep track of how many of our FUDTA educators are making the pledge. In August, when school begins, be sure to check out the resources on the website that help you with a "Getting to know your name" week.
