The Fremont Unified District Teachers
Association (FUDTA) was chartered in 1965 and is the professional organization
for the certificated personnel of the Fremont Unified
School District. Our
organization represents a wide range of certificated personnel from classroom
teachers including preschool through the adult school level, program
specialists, nurses, teachers on special assignment, speech/language
pathologists, librarians, department chairs, curriculum specialists, home
teachers, substitutes, teachers-in-training, summer school teachers, bilingual
teachers, reading teachers, psychologists, counselors, teachers of the visually
impaired, adaptive physical education teachers, math coaches, literacy coaches,
all non-administrative program managers, and other credentialed personnel that
hold positions that are not a supervisory position. Our total membership is
1,800 full and part-time professionals.
We are a charter of the California Teachers
Association/National Education Association (CTA/NEA). Our organization is led
by a thirteen member Executive Board who are elected by the membership and a
Site Representative Council of 140 members. Sites and special unit groups elect
representatives each year for the Representative Council. Our Executive Board
and Representative Council meet monthly during the school year. To speak with
the Executive Board, appointments must be scheduled through the President of
FUDTA. Our Representative Council meetings are business meetings with an
agenda. These meetings are open to the membership. All members/visitors must
sign the attendance log. In order to speak before the Representative Council
you must be recognized by the chair.
The main purpose of our
organization is to support our membership as employees of the Fremont Unified
School District. In
addition, we support public education at the state and national level. We
provide financial support to organizations in the Tri-City area that assist in
the education of the students in the Fremont
Unified School
District. The Fremont Education Foundation and
The League of Volunteers are two such organizations. We provide professional
development opportunities for our members throughout the school year. We work
collaboratively with the Fremont
Unified School
District on our Beginning Teacher Support and
Assessment Program (B.T.S.A.) and Peer Assistance and Review Program (P.A.R).
FUDTA believes that all children should have their education delivered
to them by trained professionals who work in a clean, safe environment. We are
the public schools. We support public education. And, FUDTA is proud of the job
we do for the students of the Fremont
Unified School
District.
